The Easiest Way to Add Wireless Printing
You don’t need to buy a new Wi-Fi printer or an expensive wireless print server dongle. If your printer is connected to a Windows PC that’s on your network, Share Printer turns it into a wireless printer in seconds.
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Step 1: Make Sure Your Printer Works
Print a test page from your Windows PC to confirm the printer is installed and working. Share Printer uses the same drivers your PC already has.
Step 2: Download Share Printer
Download Share Printer and install it. The app is lightweight (under 20 MB) and runs in the system tray.
Step 3: Launch the App
When you launch Share Printer, it automatically:
- Detects all printers installed on your PC
- Starts a local web server on your network
- Shows the address other devices should use (e.g.,
192.168.1.100:8080)
Step 4: Print from Any Device
On your phone, tablet, laptop, or any other device connected to the same Wi-Fi:
- Open any web browser
- Type the address shown in Share Printer
- Upload your file and click Print
Pro tip: With the Pro version, you can generate a QR code that other devices scan to connect instantly — no need to type the address.
Common Scenarios
USB Printer at Home
You have a USB printer connected to your desktop PC. With Share Printer, your family can print from their phones and laptops without needing to transfer files to the desktop first.
Old Printer Without Wi-Fi
Many perfectly good printers lack Wi-Fi. Instead of replacing it with a wireless model ($100+), install Share Printer on the connected PC and get wireless printing for free.
Office with Multiple Users
One PC has the printer. Share Printer lets everyone in the office print from their own devices — Windows, Mac, Linux, phones, tablets — without installing drivers on each machine.
Requirements
- Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit) on the PC connected to the printer
- Printer installed and working on that PC
- PC and other devices on the same local network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet)
Troubleshooting
- Can’t access the address? — Make sure both devices are on the same network. Check that your PC firewall allows the Share Printer port.
- Printer not showing up? — Verify the printer appears in Windows Settings → Printers. Share Printer uses the same printer list.
- Slow printing? — Large PDF files may take a moment to process. Try reducing file size or printing fewer pages at once.
